What to Expect

Are you wondering about Reiki and what to expect from a typical session? Here is where you'll find details about Reiki, benefits experienced by individuals, how your body might feel during a session, how to prepare, aftercare, and Reiki principles for daily living.

In some cases, healing is experienced in one session, but in other instances multiple treatment sessions may be required to work through deeper concerns. I will gently hold space for you to experience your own personal healing in your own time.

Reiki is a form of alternative healing therapy that originated in Japan. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: "rei" meaning "universal"," and "ki" meaning "life force energy". This universal life force energy flows through all living beings and has the ability to promote healing and balance on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.

About Reiki Energy

Reiki energy is channelled by the practitioner placing hands lightly on or near the recipient's body, allowing the energy to flow through them to the recipient. The practitioner acts as a conduit, facilitating the energy transfer to help restore harmony and promote well-being. It is important to note that Reiki is not affiliated with any specific religious or spiritual belief system.

Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy to conventional medical treatments.

During a Session

The range of sensations experienced during a Reiki session can vary from person to person. Common sensations include warmth, tingling, relaxation, a feeling of lightness, and energy flowing through the body.

Some people report a sense of clarity and peace, as well as a sense of balance and harmony. In other cases, the recipient may experience emotions such as sadness or joy, which can range from mild to intense. Some people don't feel anything at all.

 

No matter what you experience, it is all perfectly normal.

Before & Aftercare

BEFORE

  • Eat a light meal

  • Relax and set your intention (outcome of session)

  • Wear light clothing that is non-restrictive and comfortable

  • Drink adequate water to remain hydrated

AFTER

  • Drink plenty of water and eat fresh, light meals

  • Take a relaxing bath
  • Avoid alcohol, smoking and drugs
  • Practice mindfulness and meditation

  • Do daily deep breathing, along with yoga or stretching

  • Journal your dreams, thoughts and shifts in mindset

Reiki Principles

Reiki principles are guidelines for every day living. You can choose to meditate on them daily.
